Abstract
In this study I focus on the use of imperative mood in Twitter utterances from mexican citizens to mexican politicians and other users. Imperatives, both verbal and interjective, can be part of illocutionary acts, reactions and discourse markers. I also take into account the possible appearance of irony in the acts and its influence in the felicity rules. According to the results of the present study, imperatives are mainly used in requests and advices, and to a lesser extent in other directive acts as well as in the comissive act of threat, disagreements and contact control markers, occasionally as ironic acts which express critical commentary of addressees through echoic use and dissociative attitude.
